Tamalaki and its components have been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, antiplasmodial, antitumor, chemoprotective, immunomodulatory, antihyperuricemic, and hepatoprotective effects. It has also been shown to have vasodilatory effects as well, macrophage activation, lipid lowering activity, and diuretic, hypotensive and hypogylcaemic effects.
