Shalaparni and its chemical components have a number of biological activities and have been investigated for the following effects: antioxidant, cardioprotective, anti-inflammatory, reduction of cholesterol and triglycerides and increasing HDL, antidiabetic, antileishmanial, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, improved activities of glutathione reductase and catalase in the myocardial tissues, potential prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy against Leishmania infection. potent therapeutic agent against peptic ulcer disease, and improves memory and learning.
