Modern Research
Studied for its effects as an antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anticonvulsant, and for improving learning and memory. A number of diverse studies have also looked at its ability to relieve chronic fatigue syndrome, as acetylcholinesterase inhibitor for use with Alzheimer’s disease, for attenuation of 6-hydroxydopamine-induced parkinsonism, for doxorubicin induced myocardial injury with respect to lipid metabolism, for protection in rat cerebral ischemia, actions on biogenic amines and inhibitory amino acids, as a hypolipidaemic agent, for its protection against cytokine-induced beta-cell damage and streptozotocin-induced diabetes, and for its inhibitory effect om lipopolysaccharide-induced endotoxin shock. |
